LOCATION: Housesitting in Edenton, North Carolina
WEATHER: Much cooler – highs about 80 and spotty rain
We will be leaving the housesitting assignment tomorrow, so we spent the morning cleaning and packing up. George courageously backed the Airstream out of the driveway. He is really good negotiating tight spaces.
Once completed, we parked along the street so that we can leave easily tomorrow and so the homeowner can park in her own driveway later today when she returns.
With our tasks completed, we walked downtown, an easy 1/2 mile hike. Since it was much cooler, it was quite pleasant. On our way, we passed several crepe myrtle trees that are shedding their flowers. It looks like pink snow.
We walked past many beautiful old homes. Most have signs indicating the year that they were built – mostly in the 1700s and 1800s.
We had a delicious lunch at a downtown bistro. It was really hopping. Then, we strolled the streets, stopping at this Christian book store for a photo op.
We also checked out this pharmacy with an old-fashioned sandwich/ice cream counter.
The homeowner returned and we had a nice chat.
DINNER: Using up some of our leftovers, I made hamburger/rice stuffed bell peppers. Side was cucumber in yogurt.
