LOCATION: In our tiny house in Retama Village – in Mission, Texas
WEATHER: Summer is here! Hot – 92 and full sun
We enjoyed our Sunday morning ritual of watching CBS Sunday Morning. Then I got busy making hummus for some upcoming get-togethers. So easy, except for cleaning out the blender afterwards!
Then, in the afternoon, the “ladies” of Retama Village had a welcome wine and cheese party for the ladies at the RV park next to us, owned by the same company. It was a fun event, but I had to keep searching for an umbrella in the hot sun!
Then, we invited our backdoor neighbors, a couple from Ontario, over for some of my hummus and to talk about our route this summer through Ontario. We have several options. We hope to dip down to the Thousand Islands area to visit with my old college roommate.
This is an interesting graphic – giving a good perspective of how big Texas is. This shows that it is longer to get out of Texas, from our southernmost location, than to get to Canada from the Texas border. This isn’t exactly our route, but we will be heading directly north after we visit Big Bend National Park.
DINNER: Fettucini with seared scallops. I bought fresh pasta, instead of dried, and I think you can tell a difference.
My friend Paul says when they drive from his family home in North Dakota to visit his brother in South Texas they know they are half way when they cross the Texas state line.
