LOCATION: In our tiny house in Mission, Texas
WEATHER: Very nice. High 76
CLASSES: Chair yoga and 2 water aerobics
The holiday is over, and it is time to get back on my exercise routine. So, back in the saddle I go…..
The route I take on my morning walk goes near a large veterans’ cemetery. Every evening, they play Taps on a bugle. If the wind is in the right direction, we can hear it from our house. This morning they were playing it as I walked; there must have been an early AM funeral.
Water aerobics was chilly again. I was the only one swimming. Easy to social distance!
Then, Spanish class in the afternoon. We pretended we were ordering Mexican food from a Spanish speaking waiter. It was kind of fun.
We were looking forward to a food truck that was coming to Retama Village – serving tacos, this evening. We had signed up, along with 160 other people in our community. When the truck arrived, a long line formed. People were not social-distancing and some were not wearing masks, so we stayed away.. The tacos looked good…..
DINNER: Meanwhile, I had chopped and sauteed some jalapeños and onions to go on the tacos. So, when we ended up without tacos, I had to quickly improvise. I added some black beans to the jalapeños/onions and thawed some Mexican rice. Not too exciting, and we were disappointed about the food truck. The idea is good – to help support local businesses. Someone needs to coordinate the next one better, though.
