I took a nice morning walk while George tinkered around the trailer. Marquette has an abundance of bike/hiking trails.
We enjoyed our easy 1-hour drive east from Marquette to Munising. Most of the highway paralleled the lake, so there were many scenic turn-outs.
We were delighted to find the campground, right on the lake. We got settled in. This is our “superior” view of Lake Superior taken from our front door.
We went in to town to buy tickets for the Painted Rocks cruise tomorrow. And….what did we find?…..
The town is quite crowded with tourists, mostly those going on the boat ride. So, we headed back to thte peace and beauty of our campground.
So far, we are lucky that no one has parked in the spot right in front of us. We got a fire going. The previous “residents” of our campsite had kindly left some wood. (Sometimes everything goes just right!)
DINNER: Beans and rice with chorizo. I sauteed some green onion, cilantro, and jalapenos in the iron skillet on the trailer’s stove-top. Then, I placed the skillet on George’s fire where we added black beans and chorizo. I prefer soy chorizo over pork, as it is much less greasy. Meanwhile, I made some Texas-style rice (from a package) inside. Side was a special treat – corn-on-the-cob…our first of the season. I cooked it my favorite way……First I boiled the corn for 5 minutes. Then, I wrapped it in aluminum foil with butter, salt, pepper, and Parmesan. I put the aluminum packet on the grill. Evereything turned out to be a nice Tex-Mex dinner. Delicioso, as one would say.
We watched the sun set over the lake. Perfection!
