LOCATION: Millville, Nova Scotia
CAMPGROUND: At our friends’ house
WEATHER: Light rain. High 74
DISTANCE DRIVEN: 5 hours
We slept OK in the Walmart parking lot, although we were kept awake by the howling wind.
By the time we got up, the wind had dissipated and the rain lightened up. We walked over to Tim Horton’s, a Canadian institution, for coffee and breakfast.
At the table next to us was a group of old men killing time over coffee. It was interesting to listen to them – switching back between French and English effortlessly. (New Brunswick is the only Canadian province that is totally bilingual.)
Then, off we went toward Nova Scotia. At the New Brunswick/Nova Scotia border, there was a Covid checkpoint. We waited in line for about 45 minutes to get through. Thank goodness, our friend had informed us about this border check, and we had completed an online questionnaire that allowed us to go through easily.
We have converted all our truck numbers to metric. So, today, the temp was 13, and I drove about 100 kph. Cool!
We followed the Bay of Fundy, home of the highest tides in the world.
We arrived at our friends’ house, and got Joy parked safely in their driveway. We will stay here about 10 days, which will be a good rest for Joy.
DINNER: Tony, our friend, prepared a delicious charcuterie platter for us….
